ENROLLMENT
Welcome To The Dog Zone
Call The Dog Zone staff at 319-378-9364 to set up an appointment for a 30-minute “meet & greet” interview.
During the interview, we will ask you questions regarding your dog’s medical and behavior history, and we will need to see a copy of current vaccinations. Your dog will have a chance to meet and possibly interact with other dogs at the Dog Zone.
Can any dog come to daycare? Please keep in mind that the doggie daycare environment is quite simply not for all dogs. Just like people, dogs all have distinct personalities, and some personalities and temperaments are better suited than others to the “pack” life in daycare.
What should I expect on the first day? We ask that you bring your dog as early as possible on the first several visits so that they are one of the first there so they can “greet” the other dogs as they arrive. This makes the process much easier and less intimidating for them. Safety is our number one concern—and proper, positive introductions will set the tone for a pleasant experience at The Dog Zone.
Why does my dog seem “sluggish” after daycare? If your dog is not used to much activity or exercise during the daytime hours, he may be quite tired after his first few visits to The Dog Zone. His muscles and joints may be a little sore, just like a person who does a workout after a long period of inactivity.
What if my dog is turned down for daycare? If we decide that your dog is not right for this program, or if we must withdraw your dog due to behavior or safety concerns, it IS NOT a negative comment on your dog, and does NOT mean your dog is “bad.” It simply means that the daycare environment is not the best environment for your dog, and other options should be explored.
What else should I know?
All dogs enrolled in the basic daycare group must be at least six months of age and spayed or neutered. Puppies in the potty training assistance group must be at least 8 weeks of age and had their first set of vaccinations & bordatella vaccine.
All dogs must be in good health and must not have been ill with a communicable disease in the last 30 days. All dogs must have current vaccinations (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, parvovirus, rabies and bordatella). Owners will be required to provide proof of current vaccinations from their vet before being scheduled for any daycare services.
No dogs with known aggression problems will be accepted. If a dog is determined to be aggressive while at The Dog Zone, he will not be allowed to return.
